How To Qualify and Apply

Photos of 3 DAHfH familiesDallas Area Habitat for Humanity makes homeownership affordable for families. To apply and qualify to become a Habitat partner family you must meet certain requirements.

Habitat Homeowner Qualifications

- You must be a US citizen or permanent resident

- You must be employed and able to afford monthly payments of $500-$650 and a one time escrow payment of $1450.

- You must be willing to complete 400 hours of sweat equity

- You must have an acceptable credit history

- You must fall within the income guidelines below

How To Apply

If you meet the qualifications and would like to learn more or apply to become a Habitat partner family, please follow the steps below.

There are several ways you can learn more and begin the process of Habitat homeownership.

1) Complete a Mortgage Counseling form (click here) and mail it along with a $25 money order for your credit report. A Family Services Case Manager will call you within 24 hours of receipt of the form to schedule an appointment to review your questionnaire.

2) Meet one-on-one with a Dallas Habitat Family Services Case Manager who can answer your questions on the days below.
Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturdays—each third Saturday of the month: 9 a.m.—4 p.m.
2/16, 3/15, 4/19, 5/17,6/21, 7/19, 8/16, 9/20, 10/18, 11/15, 12/20 of 2008
The Resource Center is located at 2060 Singleton, Dallas, TX 75212.

To begin the Habitat homebuyer qualification process please bring:
Your driver’s license or ID, social security card and permanent residency card (if applicable). It you are a couple, both must be present at the interview. You should also bring a $25 money order for your credit report.

Meetings are first come, first served, so please be prepared to wait.

3) Call our partner, Lutheran Social Services, at 1-877-767-7477
Monday 9 a.m.—4 p.m. /Tuesday-Friday 9 a.m.—7:30 p.m. /Saturday 9:30 a.m.—3:30 p.m.
