We touched the lives of Dallas County residents.
From late January to mid-December, Dallas Habitat built 75 homes across 8 neighborhoods of Dallas County, and 75 deserving families purchased and moved into their brand-new homes. The 25-year, 0% interest mortgage payments made each month by families are placed in a revolving fund, the Fund for Humanity, and are used to build new homes for other deserving families.

We celebrated achievements.
In February of 2007, Dallas Habitat joyfully celebrated the dedication of its 600th house. Built in the historic Joppa neighborhood of South Dallas, the 600th house was more than a foundation, walls and a roof; the house became a home for Dallas Habitat’s 600th deserving, qualified partner family.

We brought the community together through service.
In 2007, Dallas Habitat rallied over 14,000 volunteers to build in partnership with families. These volunteers donated approximately 115,200 hours toward construction efforts, valued at over $2.1 million.

We recognized milestones.
2007 marked the 5th anniversary of a successful and innovative partnership with the City of Dallas, KB Homes and the Dallas Housing Authority to build a model community of mixed-income family homes on land formerly occupied by the Lakewest Public Housing Development. Greenleaf Village, recognized by the Urban Land Bank Institute as a best practice for public-private housing, has helped increase property values in West Dallas, sparked new retail establishments and assisted in reducing violent crime in the area.
